Basic Procedures in Short

Preparation of anatomical stress free posts with Dentapreg bundle always involves several basic procedures repeated in all particular clinical situations:

1. Root canal preparation   2. Measure the length of the root canal, set up the length and shape of the bundle

3. Etch the root canal   4. Apply adhesive to the root canal

5. Light cure the adhesive   6. Form and insert Dentapreg Post bundle(s) to the root canal and light pre-cure it.

7. Finally cure the post outside the root canal and apply adhesive cement to the post and insert the post to the root canal   8. Clean the overflowing adhesive cement in the flaring area and light cure the cement

Following designs of posts are recommended since they respect biomechanics of endodontically treated teeth

Unitype bundle design for large root canals - molars, premolars

(Dentapreg PFU bundle)

Unitype bundle design for small root canals - incisors

(Dentapreg SFU bundle)

Multitype bundle design

(Combination of Dentapreg PFU and SFU bundles)

General Remarks for Working with Dentapreg

  • Endodontic block is a good training tool for trials of Dentapreg
  • Before forming Dentapreg strip on a model, always apply separation liquid or wax
  • Always use the widest clinically acceptable Dentapreg strip
  • During forming and adaptation of the Dentapreg strip advance slowly from one end to the other to allow for a good adaptation of the fibrous reinforcement and small flow of the resin to avoid defects and shape memory effect
  • In order to minimize potential damage to the fibers, it is recommended to use plastic instruments for dental composites
  • When preparing the strip (measuring, trimming), keep the strip in its original transparent protection foil to avoid contamination
  • Avoid sharp edges and extremely small interproximal curvatures when forming Dentapreg strips to prevent fiber breakage
  • Most commercially available light or dual curing dental adhesives can be used to bond Dentapreg Post
  • Adhere according to the acid etching and adhesive  procedures recommended by the manufacturer of etching agent and adhesive
