PINPost - Instruction videos

Instructions of Use

  • The root canal of the tooth should be properly endodontically treated and sealed before inserting the Dentapreg® PINPosts.

    Alternatively, you can also use
Dentapreg® PFU or Dentapreg® SFU for large root canals.
  • 1) Remove the gutta-percha filling from the pulp chamber using a suitable size ex. NiTi file. All of the endodontic filling material must be removed from the length of the preparation except for the last 3-5 mm of gutta-percha at the apex of the root. Rinse the canal with water and dry carefully with paper points. The working area should be isolated from moisture as much as possible. The use of a rubber dam is highly recommended.

  • 2) Measure the depth of the prepared canal, using an endodontic instrument or a periodontal probe. Keep in mind the height of the coronal part.

This option requires an extra step but saves on the amount of material used. It is also possible to use the entire pin without measuring the depth of the canal, the excessive material will be removed later. This option is faster but uses more material.

  • 3) Use a low viscosity dual-curing cement for cementing the post. Prepare the root canal according to the cement manufacturer’s instruction before cementation of the post. Fill the root canal with cement using an itraoral tip. Start the filling from the apex part and continue slowly upwards until you fill the whole canal. Do not use a Lentulo Spiral Filler - it accelerates the polymerisation and shortens the working time.
  • 4) If a measurement of the canal was taken, remove the Dentapreg® PINPost from the storage bottle and cut it with sharp scissors to the required length. You can use the rest of the Dentapreg® PINPost later. If no measurement was taken, use the whole pin.

  • 5) Apply a thin layer of resin cement onto the Dentapreg® PINPost surface.
  • 6) Insert the Dentapreg® PINPost slowly into the root canal.
  • 7) Repeat steps 5 and 6 as necessary (use 4 to 6 pins per canal depending on its width).

  • 8) Clean the overflowing cement in the flaring area.
  • 9) Light cure the cement according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • 10) Apply adhesive system on the top of the pins.
  • 11) Light cure it according to the manufacturer's  instructions.
  • 13) If the pins are too long, you can shorten them using a diamond bur.
  • 14) Build the coronal part of the tooth from composite material using a preferred method.* Use the enamel shade of the composite for the final layer. Light cure it according to the composite manufacturer’s instructions. Adjust the occlusion and polish.

You can use the Dentapreg® UFM strip for reinforcing the composite crown. It is necessary to place Dentapreg® UFM into the uncured layer of composite, adapt it on the crown core and then light cure it for 40 sec.
  • 15) Final crown made with Dentapreg® PINPost.
